30 Years of Compassion: Ambari Rahman Continues Her Work Among Patna’s Underprivileged Children

Patna: In a city where life often moves at a fast pace, social worker and humanitarian Ambari Rahman has spent nearly three decades working among people from underprivileged communities, with a particular focus on children.

Recently, Rahman spent time with children living in a slum settlement in Patna, sharing moments of conversation, play and companionship with them. She also distributed cricket kits and balls among the children and arranged food for them.

For Rahman, the initiative is not merely about providing material assistance. Spending time with children, listening to them and encouraging them is equally important, she believes. Access to sports and recreational activities can help children develop confidence, discipline and a sense of teamwork.

Her association with social work spans around 30 years, during which she has remained engaged with communities that often struggle for access to basic opportunities and resources.

Her recent interaction with the slum children once again brought attention to a simple but powerful idea: humanitarian work is not always about doing something extraordinary. Sometimes, it is about showing up, sharing time and making children feel seen and valued.

For the children, the cricket kits may mean a new opportunity to play and dream. For Rahman, it is another small step in a journey of nearly three decades dedicated to humanity and social service.
